Kings Landing Historical Settlement is an outdoor Living History Museum, recreating the lives of 19th century New Brunswickers. It officially opened its doors in 1974 welcoming the world to New Brunswick’s past. The idea to open this living history museum was born out of necessity to preserve much of the heritage along the Saint John River Valley in the mid-1960’s as one of New Brunswick’s largest infrastructure projects got underway.
Kings Landing Historical Settlement is host to many costumed characters of New Brunswick’s past, sharing their stories and the stories of their surroundings with guests. There are many different activities available to take in at Kings Landing at all times. Guests are provided with a map and are invited to make their way through our village at their own pace. Along the way, guests will have many unique opportunities to explore, experience, and witness rural New Brunswick’s culture and heritage.
During the summer of 2013, a small group of Kings Landing supporters came together to think about innovative ways to ensure that Kings Landing Historical Settlement would survive and thrive for many generations to come. We became incorporated and obtained our charitable status in 2014. We developed a strategic plan and undertook to have several key initiatives in 2015 (see Events). We have been very grateful for the tremendous support we have received and for the many donors and volunteers who have come forward. With the help of our Founders and supporters we continue to strengthen our ability to assist Kings Landing Historical Settlement.
